Getting to Know Talk of Your Towne!
It all started when we moved back to the east coast in 2005 after spending 17 years in San Diego, California. Of course being away from the east coast for so long, coming back we had one thing on our minds, PIZZA! We became relentless in looking for a great east coast pizza. It took us nearly eight months to find it (and if you’re wondering what pizza it is, you’ll just have to ask us). This is honestly where it all started. ©2009. All rights reserved. An opportunity opened up for us to purchase a small struggling Welcoming Service that helped people get to know the local area and businesses. After a year and a half of talking with new members of the community through the welcoming service, we found out a few things. One, there were very specific reasons why people moved to this area; they all seemed to be looking for that small town look and feel. Along with that, many asked us for referrals to local businesses in their immediate communities. We quickly realized that many people were in the same position as we were and could not easily find what they were looking for without a bunch of trial and error. So keeping in line with our views about the importance of supporting local businesses, The Talk of Your Towne began to materialize.
We decided to create a way to encompass these two ideas: what the community was asking for and our belief in supporting local businesses. This sparked an idea for a publication that would serve our neighbors and support local businesses as well. We actually used the Welcoming Service to collect data and information about what people were looking for when they move to a cozy town… thus the birth of the Talk of Your Towne.
The Talk of Your Towne was put together to let the surrounding communities know about the local town and the businesses in and around their local areas. After that faithful month, September 2006, the first publication was mailed to the Wake Forest communities and we have never looked back. The communities receiving the Talk of Your Towne have been very receptive and supportive and it has allowed us to share what we created with many other towns and communities. It has taken on a life of its own and we now proudly serve not only Wake Forest but, Rolesville, Knightdale, North Raleigh, Wakefield, Leesville, Brier Creek, Morrisville, Cary... and more areas are coming soon!.jpg)
